I watched this elderly man slowly climb the steps of the Capital to get his photo taken with lady liberty. His grandchildren waited patiently. He was beaming with pride. There’s still hope methinks. 

Fabulous night out in Austin with one of Jen’s closest friends and her husband. Yummy dinner after thoroughly enjoyable day on the road. Went to the Capital, where Jen said Pee Wee’s bike was kept in a special secret basement. Off to Marfa tomorrow, unless the panic buying of gas in North Texas continues. In which case, y’know, I’m not. 

Beautiful ride from Shreveport. Rolling country on 79 West. The occasional cliche’d derelict building but not indicative of the entire area.
